Expats’ Moon Cake DIY Party

A group of foreigners in Chengdu had a unique way celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival.
A group of foreigners in Chengdu, from the US, Germany, Poland, Malaysia and Ecuador, had a moon cake DIY party at Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu, which was organized by GoChengdu.cn and Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu on September 14.
Master chefs from the hotel, Mr. Deng and Mrs. Lin, gave a brief introduction of the festival customs and the moon cake, and on how to make the crispy-skin moon cake.
All the foreigners finished with success in making moon cakes and some even carved their name on the back of the moon cakes.
Everyone present enjoyed some snacks and Chinese tea. They learnt how to say "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival" in Chinese and how to say "moon cake" in different languages. Everyone was excited about the extraordinary experience that helped them better know the tradition of Mid-Autumn Festival and local culture.

Exhibition on China’s Lunar Exploration Programme

The Exhibition on China’s Lunar Exploration Programme (Chengdu Stop) was open on Nov. 4 at the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum, in which one-to-one high simulation models of the Chang’e-3 moon lander and the Yutu moon rover, as well as more than 20 mock-ups and interactive exhibits including the Long March rockets and simulated launching site are shown.
