Recently, delivery robots have been put into routine last-mile delivery service in a residential community in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province. The ten robots, developed by an enterprise in the Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, have completed nearly 30,000 deliveries. Deliverymen don't need to sign in at the entrance or call the resident to go downstairs. Instead, they can simply hand the order to the robots at the community gate. Then, they can autonomously navigate to the elevator lobby, gain access, wait for the elevator and finally reach the target house. Moreover, the robots can pass speed bumps smoothly, and boast weatherproof shells and internal hooks to secure soup and liquid items.
