On March 22, the serial event titled "Exploring Spicy Food —— A Gastronomic Journey in Chengdu" was launched in Xindu District in northern Chengdu, with the participation of 12 foreign food lovers led by the staff at gochengdu.cn.

The first program was learning to make the steamed pork dumplings (called Ye'erba by locals). Ye'erba is available in most breakfast stores in downtown Chengdu, while the snack with the same name in Xindu has something special and becomes a special food eaten by locals in the period of the traditional Pure Brightness Festival.
An unforgetable experience for the foreign participants that day was having hot pot in a tree house. They also watched Sichuan Opera performances and learned the craftsmanship of palm fibre weaving. All of them were impressed by the profound food culture and folk customs of Chengdu, and expressed a strong wish to learn more about the city and its culture.
