The public art series of Chengdu Metro Line 5 stood out from over 1,100 projects to win Merit Award in the C3 Public Space category of the Global Habitat Design Award 2021-2022.
The Global Habitat Design Awards (GHDA) aims to recognize habitat design projects that have gained a good reputation worldwide. The GHDA seeks to identify exceptional habitat designs and encourage the development of a better global living environment through strict and high-quality selection standards.
Chengdu Metro Line 5 runs through the north and the south of Chengdu and is an important route to improve the spatial structure of the city. The five award-winning stations have effectively integrated the idea of establishing a park city in the design, including ecological gardens, natural humanities, and other elements. From the north to the south, the stations are Huanghuayuan Station, Fuqin Station, Qingyang Taoist Temple Station, Jincheng Avenue Station and Erjiang Temple Station.
