"We decided to locate the World of Coca-Cola here because we have much confidence in it," said Mr. Glen Walter, Chief Executive Officer of Coca-Cola Bottling Investments Group China.

The World of Coca-Cola Chengdu was inaugurated on May 27 in north Chengdu's Xindu District. It's the Coca-Cola Company's first one of its kind in southwest China and the second in the country.

At the opening ceremony, reporters from gochengdu.cn interviewed Mr. Glen Walter, Chief Executive Officer of Coca-Cola Bottling Investments Group China. "Chengdu is an amazing city. We decided to locate the World of Coca-Cola here because we have much confidence in it," he said with a placid smile upon his face and a bottle of Coca-Cola in one of his hands.

We're highly confident in our development in Chengdu

Mr. Walter said he was very delighted to witness the opening of the first World of Coca-Cola in southwest China. With its fast economic development and pace of urbanization, Chengdu has been showing a strong potential of economic growth and broad prospect over the recent years. "That's why we chose the city as a major venue for Coca-Cola's cultural heritage. On one hand, we're confident in our development in Chengdu and the entire Sichuan market. Our business here has embarked on a path of sustainable development. We hope to partner with Chengdu in all aspects to create a win-win situation for both parties. On the other hand, when we endeavor to provide Sichuan consumers with high quality products and services, we bring more joy into their lives." Mr. Walter told us he wanted to incorporate the image of the giant panda into the World of Coca-Cola Chengdu. "Maybe in the future visitors can see a panda drinking Coca-Cola on the wall here," Mr. Walter said wittily.

Coca-Cola's 'Chinese Dream'

Mr. Walter mentioned "Chinese Dream" several times at the opening ceremony of the World of Coca-Cola Chengdu. "The opening of the World of Coca-Cola Chengdu brings our company one step closer to our goal of 'Chinese Dream', which is in tune with the 'Chinese Dream' proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Coca-Cola has been working with local communities to achieve common sustainable development of the ecological environment, and doing our part to give back to the Chinese society. This is Coca-Cola's development objectives and 'Chinese Dream'."

Mr. Walter noted that Coca-Cola can not realize its "Chinese Dream" without three important factors. The first is the the support from local governments at different levels in China. Chengdu has attracted many multinational companies to do business here and Coca-Cola is one of them. The second is long-term support from Coca-Cola's loyal customers, who have contributed much to Coca-Cola's brand building and business development. The third is the joint efforts of Coca-Cola's staff. "All of the achievements we have made come from the hard word of every Coca-Cola employee."

Impression of Chengdu: people here are self-motivated and hardworking

"This is my third time to be in Chengdu." Speaking of his impression of the city, Mr. Walter said, "I am highly impressed by Chengdu people's self-motivation and hard work. They are paying lots of attention to improving the quality of life and have a strong sense of family responsibility. Another thing impressed me is the food here. It's so spicy and so delicious."

Mr. Walter said he and his family had visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding before the opening of the World of Coca-Cola Chengdu. "My sons love the adorable pandas so much! They had a lot of fun there," Mr. Walter said excitedly.
