Acting on the State Council's instruction and the deployment of Sichuan Provincial COVID-19 Response Command, Chengdu has started COVID-19 vaccination for foreign nationals in the city. Since May 28, 2021, foreign nationals within the age group specified below may, following the principle of voluntary participation, giving informed consent and assuming personal responsibility for risk, take COVID-19 vaccine.

1.Who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination?
Foreign nationals at the age of 18 and above who meet relevant medical requirements and are working, studying, or living in Chengdu (including foreign experts, foreign staff, and international students) are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

China's domestic COVID-19 vaccines will be used.

3.How to make an appointment for vaccination?
Foreign nationals with regular employers in Chengdu should make appointments through their employers with the foreign affairs office of districts (county-level cities or counties) where their employers are located; foreign teachers and students in colleges and universities should make appointments through such institutions with the foreign affairs office of districts (county-level cities or counties) where their colleges and universities are located; other foreign nationals in Chengdu should make appointments with the foreign affairs office of districts (county-level cities or counties) where they live.

4.Should I pay for the vaccination ?
Foreign nationals who have been covered by China's basic medical insurance may take vaccine free of charge by presenting the due insurance document at the vaccination site. Those who have not should currently bear the cost of RMB 98 per dose. The vaccine price is RMB 90 per dose (determined and adjusted according to the vaccine types and the purchase price), and the vaccine administration fee is RMB 8 per dose.

5.What documents should be provided for vaccination?
Foreign nationals should provide valid documents when making appointments and present their Permanent Residence ID Cards or their passports and valid residence permits in the People's Republic of China at the vaccination site. Please make sure that relevant documents are valid until the date of taking the last dose. Those who have been covered by China's basic medical insurance should also present the due insurance document at the vaccination site.

6.How do I get the due document for basic medical insurance?
Those who have been covered by the basic medical insurance for urban workers in Chengdu may check and print the medical insurance information through WeChat official accounts "Chengdu Social Insurance" and "Chengdu Medical Insurance", or "Tianfu Citizen Cloud" app;
Those who have been covered by the basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents in Chengdu may check and print the medical insurance information at tax service halls or through the WeChat official account "Chengdu Taxation".

7.What papers should I sign?
Before taking vaccine, you should sign and submit both a form of informed consent and a statement of bearing personal responsibility for all risks associated with vaccination at the vaccination site.

8.How do I get the vaccination certificate?
When completing the vaccination, the site will provide you with the vaccination certificate both in Chinese and English.

9.What care should I take before and after taking vaccine?
Before getting vaccinated, you should cooperate with the staff at the vaccination site to complete prescribed procedures, actively provide your health information, and answer questions from the medical staff, so that the professionals can determine whether you are eligible for the vaccination.
After taking vaccine, you should stay at the vaccine taking site for 30 minutes of observation and may then leave if you have no adverse reaction. Keep the injection point dry on the day of vaccination and maintain personal hygiene. Pay close attention to your physical condition within 14 days of vaccination, and please go to hospital immediately in case of serious adverse reaction.

10.Do I need to wear a mask after being vaccinated?
Vaccination will produce immunity from COVID-19 and greatly reduce infection risks. However, no vaccine is 100% effective; some people may have insufficient antibodies after taking vaccine and they can still be vulnerable to infection, especially when an immunologic barrier is not yet created. So it is important that you should wear masks, wash hands regularly, and keep social distance.

11.Do I still have to take nucleic acid test after being vaccinated?
Vaccine taking can reduce infection risks, but no vaccine is 100% effective. When necessary, foreign nationals should still take nucleic acid test as required.
