Sichuan Cuisine Museum

Chengdu, the Land of Abundance, is famed for leisure, relaxation and livability. It attracts tourists from all over the world coming to see the giant pandas and taste the delicious food.

 

Sichuan Cuisine Museum in Pidu District is about 20 kilometers from downtown Chengdu.

 

The museum has a rich collection of cooking utensils of the ancient times spanning a history of thousands of years, including cookers, wine vessels, utensils, tea sets and so on. They are the witnesses of the development history of Sichuan Cuisine.

 

Behind the long history of Sichuan cuisine is the inheritance of cooking skills, there can be seen the cutting of golden threadlike noodles and a superb performance completed blindfolded. 

 

Pixian fermented chilli bean paste is dubbed as the "Soul of Sichuan Cuisine", indispensable in cooking the famous Sichuan dishes such as Mapo Tofu and Twice-Cooked Pork.
