Statistical Bulletin 2021 on the Economic and Social Development of Chengdu

On March 25, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Statistics and Chengdu Survey Team of National Bureau of Statistics released the Statistical Bulletin on the economic and social development of Chengdu in 2021.


According to the statistical bulletin, in 2021, Chengdu had attracted 713 new foreign-invested enterprises, with 312 of the Fortune Global 500 settled in the city. The foreign investment in the city actually amounted to 50.45 billion yuan, including 138 major foreign-invested enterprises with new or additional capital of over 10 million dollars.


In 2021, Chengdu Pilot Free Trade Zone welcomed 52,548 new enterprises and attracted a newly registered capital of 305.84 billion yuan (including 382 new foreign-funded enterprises with the newly registered capital of 11.82 billion yuan), and achieved the annual total import and export of goods of 50.54 billion yuan.

In 2021, Chengdu launched five new international freight routes and saw an increase of international (regional) routes to 131, with the passenger and cargo throughput reaching 44.472 million and 649,000 tons, respectively.

 

  • The passenger throughput of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport hit 40.117 million, ranking second among the airports in China.

 

  • Chengdu Tianfu International Airport opened for operation and served 4.355 million passengers in total.

 

In 2021, Chengdu handled 4,250 China-Europe freight trains and added ten new overseas stations to its China-Europe freight train routes. The City's China-Europe freight trains can reach a total of 68 destinations in Europe.

In 2021, the total import and export of goods in Chengdu recorded RMB 822.20 billion, up 14.8% year-on-year. Among them, the exports and imports stood at 484.12 billion and 338.08 billion yuan, up 17.9% and 10.7% on a yearly basis, respectively.

 

  • Chengdu's foreign trade with the countries along the Belt and Road amounted to 259.96 billion yuan, up 16.8% yearly and accounting for 31.6% of the city's total.

 

  • Chengdu exported high-tech products valued at 366.98 billion yuan, up 8.4% yearly.
