Jiuzhai Valley to Reopen to Tourists

Jiuzhai Valley will reopen on March 8, exactly seven months after being devastated by a strong earthquake.
Jiuzhai Valley Scenic Spot will open to visitors part of its area, starting on March 8, after a 7-month closing. The area to be opened will include the sections from the entrance of the scenic spot to Changhai Lake and the number of visitors will be limited to 2000 per day.
Some of the scenic park's most popular sites, including the Nuorilang Waterfall, Long Lake, Mirror Lake, Five-Colour Lake and Shuzheng Lakes, will be open to the public, the tourism office of the Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture, in south-western Sichuan province, said in a statement.
Jiuzhai Valley has received more than 32 million tourists from home and abroad over the past 10 years. It closed on Aug. 8 last year due to the earthquake.
To protect the site, the office stipulated the following crowd-control and safety measures:
- Only up to 2,000 visitors a day will be allowed to enter the park (daily opening time 8:00-17:00)
- All visitors must have insurance coverage
- Only group tours will be accepted; no individual tourist will be allowed to enter

Hotel price during the peak season is higher than that in the off-peak season. It costs around 200 for an average hotel, while the 5-star hotel is much expensive, about RMB700-1200. Reservation for accommodation is recommended during the peak season.
1. Prepare enough food and water for the long journey on the bus;
2. Prepare sweaters, sunscreens, sunglasses and umbrellas. The area of the scenic spot has a drastic temperature change in autumn, when you can wear a T-shirt at daytime and a thick sweater at night.
