Chengdu municipal government issued on Nov. 5, 2014 a regulation on the preservation of the historic buildings in the city, the first of its kind in history, which will come into effect on December 1.
A number of historical constructions have been included in the document for their historical importance and cultural and architectural values.
Chengdu has a history of over 2, 000 years and is an important economic and cultural center in western China, and the preservation of its historic constructions is a primary concern to promote local culture.
Among the many historic constructions around the city, 15 sites in the downtown area have made their entry in the list of the buildings under protection.

Ancestral Shrine of the Qiu Family

The Ancestral Shrine of the Qiu Family is built by immigrants from Guangdong Province in 1867 and is the only existing well-preserved Hakka style ancestors' shrine in downtown Chengdu.

Kang Jihong Mansion

Built in the late 1940s, the Kang Jihong Mansion was the residence of Kang Jihong, then a distinguished entrepreneur in the city and an important meeting site for local dignities and celebrities of the time.

Two German Architectures 1949-1989
