A hot spring bath provides a healthy and heartening alternative to the dull existence of city residents in winter, and the many hot spring resorts in the neighboring areas of Chengdu make themselves hot sites during the long cold and damp season, especially on weekend and holidays.
Most of the resorts lie within the radius of the two-hour drive, and a two-day tour to these sites will bring you an invigorating experience of salutary douse and sightseeing delight.
1. Qingcheng Mountains
Qingchengdao Hot Spring at the foot of the Qingcheng Mountains in Dujiangyan City, some 70 km from Chengdu downtown, boasts high-quality hot water deep from the underground with the constant temperature around 42°C, rich in healing substances that are beneficial to the human body.
Picturesque mountain sights and interesting ancient towns are nearby, and you can have a taste of local special foods.

Traffic: CRH at the North Railway Station of Chengdu; bus 101 to the front Qingcheng Mountains and bus 102 to Jiezi Ancient Town.
2. Huashuiwan
One of the most popular hot spring resorts in Chengdu, Huashuiwan is located in Dayi County and is about 114 km from Chengdu downtown. The resort is cradled in the hills and has spa pools with hot water drawn from the ancient sea.
Admission: RMB158/person; 09:00-24:00 (Monday-Thursday), 09:00-01:00 (Friday-Sunday)
Address: at the foot of Xiling Snow Mountains, Dayi County
Traffic: bus at Chengdu Jinsha Bus Station to Xiling Snow Mountains Scenic Area; bus at Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Station or Chengdu East Bus Station to Dayi Bus Center and transfer to Huashuiwan.
3. Mount Emei
Hot water at the resort, the rare radon hot spring, is from 3, 000 meters underground and the site is built in the forest with beautiful sceneries.

Address: 200m from Baoguo Monastery
Route: Intercity at Chengdu East Railway Station or South Railway Station to Mount Emei; bus to Baoguo Monastery.
4. Luofu Mountains
Luofu Mountains Hot Spring is located in Anxian County, Mianyang City, 122 km away from Chengdu. There are more than 20 kinds of minerals and trace elements in the hot spring, and different springs have different healthful effects.
The famous Feiming Monastery, Yuqing Temple and snow sights are not far away.

Address: Sangzao Town, Anxian County
Traffic: Intercity at Chengdu East Railway Station or South Railway Station to Mianyang City; bus to Luofu Mountai Hot Spring.
1. Take off jewelry before getting into hot springs;
2. DO NOT take a hot spring bath when hungry, or just after having dinner or drinking alcohol;
3. Feel the water of the spring, choose the one with a proper temperature;
4. DO NOT stay too long in the pool; take a rest every 15-20 minutes.
