People in Chengdu go out on trips of flower appreciation after Start of Spring.

Nothing says spring like the flowers. They are the surest sign that warmer weather is coming, and we have survived the long winter.

Here in Chengdu, flocks of people go out to enjoy flowers after Start of Spring. Start of Spring (Li-chun, 立春 in Chinese), which falls on Feb.3 in 2017, is the first term of the 24 solar terms (the supplementary system in the Chinese calendar to guide farm work) and arrives when the sun moves to the celestial longitude of 315 degrees. Flowers come into the blooming season and it is a good time for outing, which is called "Chun-you春游" or "Ta-chun踏春" in Chinese.
