Jinli is one of the most popular tourist destinations in downtown Chengdu featuring old-style buildings, local snacks and folk handicraft shops.
Jinli Street is one of the most popular spots in downtown Chengdu featuring old-style architecture of West Sichuan and local culture. The name “Jinli” dates back to the Han dynasty about 2, 000 years ago and means “the street of embroidery workshops”.
Jinli Street was one of the earliest and the most commercialized streets in the history of the Sichuan and was well known throughout the country during the Qin, Han dynasties and the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280).
Many aspects of the urban life of Chengdu are present in the today’s Jinli area — tea houses, restaurants, bars, theatrical stages, handicraft stores, local snack vendors and specialty shops.
