About 66 kilometers to the east of downtown Chengdu, the Valley of Flowers, with an area over 66 hectares, is located in Zhuanlong Town, Jintang County. As a national 3A scenic spot, it is by far the largest private garden in China.
The Valley of Flowers is now the largest plantation in the world for the appreciation of a wide variety of hollyhock flowers, the native flora in Sichuan. It also takes the lead in the world in the collection and protection of the hollyhock germplasm resources, the breeding of new varieties, application of horticulture.
China is the homeland of lilies. The Valley of Flowers, with over 100, 000 lilies of more than 30 varieties, is the only lily theme park in China.
It is also the first appreciation base of hibiscus, the city flower of Chengdu. The city has a history of planting hibiscus for over a thousand years.
With hollyhock, lilies and hibiscus as the three theme flowers, the Valley of Flowers also boasts a large variety of other flowers, which make the garden a world of flowers, with fragrance, in four seasons.
Self-drive: drive along Chengdu-Nanchong Expressway and turn away at Zhugao to go to Zhuanlong Town. A journey from downtown Chengdu to the site takes about one and a half hour. There is a parking lot 400 meters away from the gate of the Valley of Flowers.
Lodging: Lodgings are not available around the Valley of Flowers at present. Tourists wishing to stay overnight are recommended to find lodgings at Zhuanlong Town and Zhugao Town.
Food: There is a small service center that provides water, coffee and some snacks. Visitors are advised to take some food and drink with you.
Admission: RMB50/person; free admission for children under 1.2 meters
