Two panda cubs, Xing Ya, male, and Wu Wen, female, arrived in the Netherlands on April 13.
A pair of Chinese panda cubs arrived in the Netherlands on April 13 and will stay there for joint scientific research and breeding for 15 years.
The two cubs, Xing Ya, male, and Wu Wen, female, are both 3 years and 8 months old. Both were brought up at China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in the Wolong National Nature Reserve in western Sichuan.
The cubs will live at Ouwehand Zoo in Rhenen, a small city of about 20,000 people in the Netherlands. The Dutch zoo, with nearly 500,000 visitors each year, has built a luxurious house for the two cubs, which involved an investment of nearly 7 million euros. The panda house named Pandasia covers 9,000 square meters and looks like an ancient Chinese palace.
