International Exchange, a Boost to Chengdu's Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Chengdu, a megacity in western China famous for panda and food, is emerging as an innovation leader in the country.
Top universities in Chengdu have been expanding academic, cultural and business exchanges and cooperation in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I & E) with the outside world, in hopes of nurturing more IT tycoons like Facebook, Tencent, Alibaba and DJI, and creating a "silicon valley in western China."
To transform the modes of economic growth, and encourage more young adults start their own businesses, Chengdu has co-established technology parks with South Korea, Germany and France, which have become home to lots of start-ups from home and abroad.
Over the recent years, Sichuan University has been furthering its partnership with famous international universities like the University of Cambridge and University of Pittsburg, co-establishing platforms for global commercialization of hi-tech innovations, industry accelerators for creative industries, innovation training, global information consulting and service.
University of Electronic Science and Technology of China offers professional training and guidance to its student innovators and entrepreneurs. So far, it has given support to 1,800 independent R & D projects, 160 patents and copyrights and 75 innovative technology companies.
As major part of the Sino-France Ecological park, the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen project will conclude construction and be put into production this year. With an investment totaling 12.3billion yuan, it is aimed to be a Global New Generation Lean and Green Benchmarking Plant, and a model of integration of China's "Made in China 2025" plan and France's "The Industry of the Future" plan.
In the past months, several big-ticket projects involving environmental conservation, clean energy and sustainable development and electric vehicle parts manufacturing have located in the park.
Bosch, a German multinational engineering and electronics company, plays a vital role in the development of the Sino-Germany (Pujiang) Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperation Park. Since 2012, Bosch Packaging Technology Co. Ltd., Bosch Power Tools Co., Ltd. and Bosch Research and Technology Center Asia/Pacific, had made presence one after another in the park.
