Industrial Parks for International Cooperation in Chengdu

To date, Chengdu has been home to 5 industrial parks for international exchange and cooperation. Playing a vital role in driving the city’s opening up and reform, and attracting foreign capital, technology and managerial expertise, they serve as an important platform for the city’s industrial restructuring and involvement in the Belt and Road development, as well as industrial collaboration with other countries and regions.
Sino-France Eco-Quarter in Chengdu
Overview
The Sino-France Eco-Quarter in Chengdu is a platform co-established by the Chinese and French governments for the joint venture partnerships between Chinese companies and organizations and their French counterparts. Sitting on the north of the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone, it occupies a planned area of 22.3 square kilometers and has a planned population of 200,000. It highlights green growth and sustainable development, and prioritizes smart manufacturing. To focus on the synergy between France's Industry of the Future initiative and Made in China 2025 strategy, it is committed to furthering the partnership between China and France as well as other European countries in industry, technology, scientific research, culture, business and trade, as well as the services sector, etc.
Major events
According to an MoU signed on March 26, 2014 between the two countries with the witness of both Chinese president Xi Jinping and his then French counterpart François Hollande, a Sino-France eco-quarter will be built in the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone.
In September 2016, the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. in Chengdu went into operation.
In April 2017, the Sino-France Eco-Quarter in Chengdu was inaugurated, with the witness of a special envoy of the then French prime minister.
Main industries
New energy vehicles, energy conservation and environmental protection, advanced materials, designing and consultancy, and R&D of cultural and creative sectors, etc.
Achievements
In 2016, the Sino-France Eco-Quarter in Chengdu realized an industrial investment of nearly RMB6.37 billion, the first phase of the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd, with a total investment of over RMB10 billion, got operational, and 5 other important projects including Suez Environment's distributed energy project and a Sino-France energy management big data center were determined to locate in the quarter.
