Israeli Biotech Expert Shares Entrepreneurial Experience in City

Dr. Robert Marks, a globally renowned expert in biosensor technology, a full-time professor at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and co-founder of Biosensorix, a biotechnology company based in Singapore, shared his entrepreneurial experience and views about the prospect of biotech industry with entrepreneurs at an event held April 3 by the Startup Grind Chengdu and Startupbootcamp China in the city.
In 2015, Dr. Marks co-established Biosensorix with Dr. Luka Fajs, aiming to provide accurate and convenient diagnostic solutions for rural and urban doctors. According to Dr. Marks, the company developed a hand-held tool that enables patients to diagnose themselves at home. The product is affordable, portable, easy to use, and can be used repeatedly as well as provide accurate and quick quantitative diagnosis.
At the event, Dr. Marks talked about the failures he experienced in his entrepreneurial journey, and how he overcame the setbacks. In addition, he said he had had a plan to start business in China, which is a fast-growing economy with a huge market of biotech. He also acclaimed Chengdu as an ideal place for startups.
The event was co-hosted by the Startup Grind Chengdu and Startupbootcamp China. Startup Grind, set up in Silicon Valley in 2010, is the largest independent startup community in the world, actively educating, inspiring, and connecting 1,000,000 founders in over 200 cities across the globe. Startupbootcamp, founded in 2010 and set foot in Chengdu in 2016, is a global family of industry-focused programs, supporting early-stage tech founders to rapidly scale their companies.
