City Uses QR Code-based Payment Application for Public Transportation

The new payment service, allowing passengers to take a bus by paying through scanning a QR code with their mobile phones, got operational May 4 in Chengdu, according to the Chengdu Tianfutong Financial Services Co., Ltd.
After registering on the App titled "天府通 (Tianfu Tong)", passengers are able to use the service on buses running along more than 20 local routes. And those who utilize the QR code-based payment during May 4 to 6, will be given a 50% discount of all fares during the period.
Local people will be able to take a public bus or metro by making QR code-based payment throughout the city by the end of June.
