Chengdu’s growth in offshore outsourcing of services was higher than the national average in the first half of 2017, sources from Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce were cited as saying on August 2.
In the six months, the city's contracts involving offshore outsourcing of services were worth RMB5.36 billion, rising 18.86% year on year, and the amount of those which had been executed hit RMB4.07 billion, up 21.03% over the same period of a year ago, and 9% higher than the national average.
In the first half of this year, the city's information technology outsourcing (ITO) business accounted for 63.35% of its total volume of offshore outsourcing of services, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%, and its knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) business 22.35%, a year-on-year rise of 66.67%.
Statistics show that the city's ITO and KPO services developed rapidly in the first half, and the high value-added and highly tech-intensive outsourcing of engineering and industrial design services kept a strong momentum of growth.
With the influx of foreign-funded businesses in the city, local companies are going global actively. In this year's first half, 21 countries and regions along the Belt and Road involved in the city's offshore outsourcing of services. Among all businesses that have offered the services, 47.56% were local and 19.51% overseas, 21.95% R&D centers of multinationals, and 10.98% info sharing centers of multinationals.
