AED Units Put into Use in Chengdu

Thirty AED units have been set up at 7 public sites in Chengdu, which are aimed to play a crucial role in saving people suffering from sudden heart attack.
The inauguration ceremony of the AED installation was held at Wide & Narrow Alleys in downtown Chengdu on Dec. 29, 2016 and a program has been launched to train 500 volunteers on the operation of the AED units.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
