Focus on Chengdu Photo Contest Wraps up

The Focus on Chengdu Photo Exhibition & Awarding Ceremony was staged in Chengdu on November 21.
The contests received over 1, 000 photos from nearly 500 photographers across the world since its launch in November 2017 and decided on six winners from Spain, Japan, Nepal, the US and Switzerland, etc.
Guillaume Kaufmann, from Switzerland, was announced the first prize winner at the ceremony, with his work named The Roofed Bridge winning over 3, 000 likes on the website of gochengdu.cn, the sponsor of the photo contest.
"I will never forget the time in Chengdu! I hope I'll be there again!" said Kaufmann in a post on WeChat.
"The event promotes Chengdu and its culture in a relaxing and lively atmosphere," said Frank Eggmann, Consul general of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Chengdu.

"The photo exhibition gives me a better understanding of the city and its culture," said Uri Zirinski, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu.

"I feel delighted to see so many works about Chengdu by photographers from across the world," noted Christopher Lim, Consul General of the Consulate General of Australia in Chengdu.

Vice-Consul of the Consulate General of Singapore in Chengdu Hon Jia Wen noted that the event was "a window" for people to know more about Chengdu as a "great city".

Jake Homovich, a winner of the third award of the contest, said Chengdu is "a city where antiquity meets the modern age."
The contest had attracted attention in China and overseas, and was reported on people.cn, chinanews.cn, China Daily and other state-level media in China.
