Born in 1949, Patrick Lapeyre is a French writer whose writing style is both delicate and poetic, something that can be felt down to the titles of his books: The Inflammable Body, The Slowness of Tomorrow, The Sister-man (Inter Prize 2004).
The novel which earned him the Femina Prize in 2010, Life Is Short and Desire Endless (Other Press, translation by Adriana Hunter), is published in China by Sichuan Literature and Art Press Ltd. Co.. Louis Bleriot, in Paris, must choose between his wife Sabine and his mistress Nora; as for Nora, she is in love with Louis and Murphy, another man who lives in London... The characters of this love triangle hesitate, wait, lose themselves at times, and live, as simple as that.
Patrick Lapeyre is the creator of a soft literature, as if suspended, and pays attention to words and the purity of the language. His latest novel's publication, The Splendor in the Grass, is scheduled for the end of 2017.
