Zhou Yi, a pastry chef from Sichuan, won three gold awards with a series of works at Cake International Competition, the world’s largest cake competition in London.

His state-of-art creations at the event were several exquisite cakes of the Chinese style figures, including a fondant-based one featuring Empress Wu Zetian (624-705). Judges of the competition spoke highly of his works.

Zhou's rise to be a world-known patissier is the result of the long process of learning and exploration in the world of pastry techniques, especially the years in experimenting with fondant applications, according to Zhou.
