In Chengdu, the best time to veiw the sight of golden ginkgo trees is from mid-November to early-December.
The ginkgo tree is the City Tree of Chengdu and there are thousands of ginkgo trees planted in downtown and suburban Chengdu. Ginkgo trees can be found everywhere, especially on university campuses, such as Sichuan University and The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Suburban places in Chengdu, such as Yunding Mountains in Jintang County, Qingcheng Mountains in Dujiangyan City and Baiyan Monastery in Dayi County are also good places to see golden ginkgo trees.
Ginkgo trees are often referred to as "living fossils", having not changed for over 200 million years despite major climate changes. Currently, there are twenty 1000-year-old gingko trees and over 2000 old gingko trees in City.
If you love photographing, you will not be able to resist the temptation of the yellow fan-like leaves of the ginkgo trees lining the streets and lanes in city.
