“Supermoon” Seen Over Chengdu

The "supermoon" was seen over Chengdu last night.

The "supermoon" was seen over Chengdu, Nov. 14, 2016. The supermoon was the closest full moon to the earth in 69 years, according to NASA.

The moon was taking the form of the biggest supermoon we've seen in 70 years, lighting up skies around the world. A supermoon is when a moon is in its full and at its closest point to the earth during its orbit at the same time.

Naturally, photographers (both professional and amateur) were eating up the opportunity to capture the huge full moon in all its bright and colorful glory.

“Extra-super” moon is to rise

See the biggest super moon in a generation on Nov.14, 2016. It’s the closest the moon has been to Earth since 1948. Appearing bigger and brighter, the moon won’t look this super again until 2034.
