The Making of Art exhibition to highlight the priceless art works ― collections from Sichuan Museum and the Cartier Collection ― will be held April 18 - July 28 at Sichuan Museum.
On display will be exhibits covering 6 themes highlighting the styles and traditions and the interaction between eastern and western arts.
Highlights
The exhibits from Cartier Collection span the years from the 1850s to the late 19th century, a record long period for the exhibits of any Cartier exhibition in China.
Among the exhibits is the Hutton-Mdivani Jadeite Necklace, which was once owned by Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton (1912 - 1979) and auctioned last year at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Auction at the price of HKD214 ml (USD27.6 ml) .
For the first time the exhibition of Cartier themes on naturalism and features the design to highlight the exchange between the East and the West.
Notes:
In the past 25 years, jewelry works from Cartier Collection have been exhibited in 29 museums in the world, including the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais in Paris, British Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Kremlin.
