The Dragon Boat Festival is cerebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which falls on June 3 this year. How will you welcome the traditional festival? Here are some events for you to have a good time while learning about the customs of the festival.
Cultural immersion activities
Time: June 1- June 3
Location: Tangren Street and Yanlord Academy of Stream in Cloud (Xi Yun Shu Yuan), Chongzhou, Chengdu
Here you can experience various activities that will bring you back to ancient times, including rattan weaving, sugar painting, blowing sugar, movable type, pitch-pot games, Hanfu, zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) wrapping contest, self-made incense bag, and other traditional activities.
Intangible cultural heritage exhibition and performance
Time: June 1
Location: Yimahe Park, Longquanyi District, Chengdu
A series of activities to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival takes place at Yimahe Park. Cultural performances and the display of intangible cultural heritage are among many exciting activities for you to experience local culture.
Dragon boat racing cultural exhibition
Time: June 3
Location: Jianyang Library
A photo exhibition will be held at Jianyang Library to showcase the customs and traditional culture of dragon boat racing.
Traditional Chinese Painting experience workshop
Time: 13:30-15:00, June 3
Location: Chengdu Museum of Modern Art in Tianfu Art Park, Jinniu District
Here visitors can learn about the history, techniques, and styles of Chinese painting. Participants can paint a piece of Chinese painting with elements of the Dragon Boat Festival under the guidance of three professional teachers.
